Congress Actually Doing Something: Rep. August Pfluger Made an Unreal Diving Play in the Congressional Baseball Game

It seems like there's a play every year in the Congressional Baseball Game that makes me say I'm going to watch it intently the following year and then I inevitably forget all about it until there's another awesome play and we do the whole thing over again.

But what a play we saw in last night's game from Texas Rep. August Pfluger, who dove to his right to keep the ball in the infield and then got back to his feet just in time to dive again to get the force out at third base. That's why he's manning the hot corner, folks.

Pfluger was named the game's MVP as he helped the Republicans notch their fifth straight victory in the annual matchup, though this year's 13-2 final score was more competitive than last year's 31-11 win. So the Democrats are making progress.

Side not: holy shit, that's one of the coolest trophies I've ever seen. How many congressmen have one of those bad boys? I'd put that right up there with Nancy Pelosi's stock tips as the best thing you can get while working in Washington.

Can't wait for next year's ballgame that I'm definitely going to watch this time. Maybe the Dems will stay within single digits.
