'Oakmont, Pittsburgh, Dentistry.' - Matt Vogt, The Former Oakmont Caddie Turned Dentist, Hits The Opening Tee Shot At The US Open, Delivers An Incredible Par

I'm sure everyone has heard of Matt Vogt by now. The guy became the feel good story when he qualified for this event out in Washington. Guy was a caddie at Oakmont growing up, went to Butler, quit the team to focus on school and is now a dentist. He plays in amateur events and competed in some long drive stuff, but by all means he's not a 'pro' golfer. He makes his money as a dentist, like Shaq made his money in college.

So naturally he gets to hit the opening tee shot

Naturally he smokes a shot 60 yards off line

That's the dream right there. Sure, a birdie would be nice, but do you know the pressure of being the hometown kid and having to hit the opening tee shot? No thank you. Let me go in the 3rd group. By that point someone already would have done something stupid and I can just freely swing. Never want to go first in an outing or a tournament of any sort.

This is the beauty of the US Open. You have Matt Vogt warming up against the greats:

Delivered an incredible quote

He's embraced being the local hero. Anyways, the US Open is underway and we have a dentist hitting the opening tee shot. Love this tournament so much.
