Lee Corso's Final 'College Gameday' Will Take Place in Columbus for Texas-Ohio State, Where He Made His First Ever Headgear Pick
It's only fitting that the final time Lee Corso puts on the headgear at the conclusion of College Gameday will be in the same place he first donned it in 1996.
On the surface, it makes sense for Gameday to head to the game that may very well be No. 1 vs. No. 2 to start the season, but with that game being televised on FOX and Corso's alma mater Florida State taking on Alabama at home, it seemed like Tallahassee may be the spot ESPN chose for Coach's final show. But you can't go wrong with what will be one of the premier matchups of the entire season and where the legend of the headgear began.
My only ask for Corso's final show is that it's the last time anyone does the headgear. That's his thing. Gameday has actually found a pretty good dynamic with Pat McAfee and Nick Saban; there's no need to shoehorn the headgear in with someone else. And as a matter of fact, I'd find it more than mildly disrespectful.
With Texas-OSU kicking off at noon, it's going to be a wild swing of emotions going from Corso's final headgear pick to kickoff of what could potentially be a national championship preview to start the season within minutes. We're all going to have to be on top of our TV-viewing game right from the jump this season.
