A True Shitshow: James Dolan Reportedly 'Spearheaded' The Knicks Firing Tom Thibodeau, Apparently Was 'Never A Huge Fan' Of Thibs
Goddamnit, this is the last thing I needed to see or hear or anything. James Dolan being involved in anything with the Knicks means it's going to shit. Leon Rose is only one man and while he turned the Knicks into a consistent playoff team where people want to clown them for losing in the Eastern Conference Finals, James Dolan is the single reason we had the 25-year gap between appearances. In fact I'm willing to blame the loss to the Pacers on James Dolan now. It's pretty simple to me, when things go bad it's because James Dolan showed up with his kazoo and fucked shit up.
No one is saying Thibs was perfect.
But it's pretty clear that this felt a little forced from the top. You don't fire a guy for losing in the Eastern Conference Finals, you give him another year. The move they should have made was bring in an offensive coordinator and someone who can force Thibs into figuring out rotations earlier in the season and not game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
There's just nothing good to come with Dolan making decisions. Let Leon Rose do his thing. It's working out, I promise it's working out. Things have been better the last 5 years than any other stretch since the 90s. Let's just make one thing clear here. Nothing should ever be spearheaded by James Dolan, not when it comes to basketball decisions. Just cut the checks and let Leon Rose work.
