Gotta Get Ahead Of The Story - Dan Hurley Officially Turns Down The Knicks Job, Without Ever Being Offered The Knicks Job

Goddamnit Hurley. I say that not because as a Knicks fan I wanted Hurley or anything, but because my hands are tied and forced to respect this move. I didn't really see anyone of note put Hurley's name out there as a legit candidate, but he still had to turn it down. Take himself out of the running before he ever even officially was named a candidate or something. Pitino did the same thing:

This isn't my first coaching search, for sure not the first with the Knicks, so I know how this goes. You get names thrown out there, you hear shit like 'gotta make them say no.' That wasn't the case with Pitino or Hurley. Their names were floated out there from mostly fans being like yeah let's throw them there because why not.

This is also classic Hurley. Says 'not another summer of that' when he was the one who was interested in the Lakers job. This wasn't some fabricated story or anything, he was openly talking about listening to the Lakers, mulling over where he wanted to coach. I said it when he turned down the Lakers job, college basketball is better with Dan Hurley in it. The more coaches, especially great ones with a personality, are good for college basketball. We need the Pitino's, Hurley's and those in the Big East.
