Cry Harder: Florida’s Hockey Reign Isn’t About Taxes

I mean, holy shit. Does it get more pathetic than this? Look, I know I’ve had my fair share of shitty takes, looked like an absolute fucking idiot, and been the laughingstock of this company. But my Lord, these motherfuckers are publicly crying about how unfair it is that Florida doesn’t have a state income tax?

I love Biz, truly, one of the best dudes I’ve met at this company but hearing him say we need to "address" Florida not having a state income tax, like it's some kind of loophole or borderline illegal, is fucking insane. And then you've got fucking Jordie crying his eyes out because the great state of Florida is now the hockey capital of the world. It's beyond pathetic.

Buddy, it has nothing to do with income tax and everything to do with the people in charge of the organization. The Viola family completely transformed this franchise. If not having a state income tax was the secret sauce, then why the hell haven’t the Dolphins won a playoff game in 25 years? Why have the Miami Marlins been a joke in baseball for the past decade? How come the Magic have never won an NBA Finals? Why have the Jaguars been irrelevant for most of the last ten years?

The list goes on and on.

What it actually comes down to is culture. And no one, NO ONE, has a better culture than the Florida Panthers. It's "fuck you" hockey. That's why we win. Not because we don’t have to pay state income tax.

When the Panthers were absolute dog shit for 15 years, no one said a goddamn word about taxes. When Ryan Whitney suited up for 7 games and finished with a +/- of -7, no one mentioned state income tax. But now that a Florida team has made the Cup Finals six straight years, now they want to talk about taxes?
