WORST NEWS EVER: The Caps Sent An Email To Season Ticket Holders Saying Next Year Will Be Ovi's Final NHL Season

SAY SIKE. SAY SIKE RIGHT NOW!!!!

This is quite literally the worst combo of words ever put together. If bottle service girls put those words on a sign at a bar I would start World War 3. It just…I just…I'm not ready for this. He can't retire. He's supposed to play forever. I just…don't want to think about the Caps without Ovechkin. It's like the Pats without Brady or Barstool without Meek Phil, some things you simply don't ever want to see happen. 

And real quick, before we go on- obviously someone made the decision to put this in an email and cleared it with NOBODY. Email person probably feeling the heat right now, so that must suck. Clearly the news was not supposed to break this way and someone took it upon themself to write that. 

But yeah, I don't even want to think about this right now. Knowing that every time he touches the ice next season is 1 game closer to his last. I don't know how to process this information. Like, yes, we all knew it was coming. It's not a surprise. It's just hard to face the realization that it's truly happening. That we have at most 82 more regular season games + playoffs and then the greatest player to ever wear a Caps sweater will hang up the yellow laces. 

You know that he isn't going to want a grand farewell ceremony at every arena next season, but teams are definitely going to do it anyway. Kinda sucks because you could tell the goal chase from this last season took a lot out of him, and now he's going to have to do a dog and pony show all of next season. I guess heavy is the head that wears the crown and all that.

So yeah. It's happening. The worst thing ever is happening. I'm just so glad we got to see him win a Cup and break the scoring record, two of the greatest moments in NHL history. But it still sucks. Even though we knew it was coming, it still sucks sucks sucks.
