Report: A Source Says Cardi B Wishes Stefon Diggs 'Wouldn't Be a Scumbag and Flirt Back' With That Literal Boatload of Ladies

Fame, as you've no doubt heard, has its price. Yes, it comes with wealth, adulation and the attention from what in a simpler time we used to call "the opposite sex." But there's a flip side to all notoriety.

For example, a nobody you or me can hang out on a boat during the first weekend of summer, surrounded by attractive people and handing out ziplock bags of mystery ingredients and no one would give us a second thought. But when you're a 4-time Pro Bowler with six straight 1,000-yard seasons and just got signed to a $69 million deal by a franchise that hasn't had a top-tier wide receiver since 2019? Well, the public is going to take notice. And the person most responsible for running that franchise is especially going to be paying attention:

And when it comes to how Stefon Diggs conducts his social life, Mike Vrabel has an ally. He and Cardi B are working the opposite sides of the same street on this issue:

Source (paywall) - The viral video captured on Monday showed Diggs lounging shirtless on the bat and chatting with three women, all dressed in bikinis, who called him 'daddy.'

Toward the end of the clip, he produced a plastic bag containing an unknown substance that one of the women took from him.

Despite Cardi B also enjoying the party onboard, the 'I Like It' hitmaker was left seething by her NFL beau's antics, a source revealed to the Daily Mail.

'Cardi for her part, whether sh is there or not, doesn't want her man flirting with any ladies,' the insider said. 'Girls will throw themselves on him all the time, but she wishes he wouldn't be a scumbag and flirt back.

'Cardi has had her fair share of relationship issues, and she doesn't want it to continue with Stefon. And now that the video went viral, she is really frustrated with him that he would allow that to happen,' the source continued.

'He should know better, the fact he didn't realize what was going on around him is embarrassing and she is mad at him.'

Now let's be careful as we unpack all of this. This source isn't saying that Cardi called Diggs "a scumbag." As a great friend of mine once put it to his beloved wife, "I didn't say you're a bitch. I told you not to act like one." That is a very big distinction. And together they're good pieces of advice that we all should follow.

Now, if you've never been in a serious relationship, it's probably easy to sit in judgment on Diggs' behavior here. If you've ever been in one, if you're a married man, you've no doubt found yourself in this very situation. You're at a party. You're significant other is there too. You're being sociable. The drinks start flowing (or the gummies start kicking in, if that's more your thing). You find yourself in a conversation. And before you know it, you're drawing the ire of the one you're answerable to. Women have a sort of internal shot clock that counts down how long you can be talking to another woman before "sociable" turns into "flirting." And when that silent buzzer sounds, you're losing possession of the ball(s).

I consider myself as devoted as they come. But I can't count how many times over 30-plus years of marriage I got to the "Witty and Charming" stage of drunkenness, started bantering with a new acquaintance, and had my beguiling Irish Rose blow the whistle and signal the turnover. It happens to all of us.

And Stefon Diggs isn't above it, either. Just because he's the newest, best hope of a football team desperate for a true WR1 doesn't give him Diplomatic Immunity. Granted, according to this source, Cardi B's worried about her man receiving the female gaze from her party guests, and not as concerned about the mystery substance. But she and the Patriots are, if you'll pardon the unintentional pun, in the same boat.

As a Patriots fan, I'm grateful this is playing out the way it had over the past 48 hours. Diggs is a vessel into which we're pouring a lot of our hopes for a productive offense, points on the board, and no more 4-13 seasons. The fact he got people in his personal and his professional life keeping a watchful eye to make sure he straightens up and flies right, can only help him be what we need him to be. Which is what we're seeing here:

So thanks, Cardi B. As you yourself put it, "I Like It."
