WWE Has Allegedly Pulled WrestleMania 42 From New Orleans So They Could Go Back To Las Vegas For The Second Year In A Row

This is a pretty crazy (and still developing) story in the wrestling world right now; the WWE is reportedly pulling WrestleMania 42 from its host city of New Orleans (which had already been officially announced by The Rock, and set in stone for months) in favor of returning to Las Vegas for the second year in a row.

After the most profitable WrestleMania in history, returning to Sin City was just too good an offer to turn down for ‘double or nothing’ - and it might even become a hub for WWE to keep going back to in the future according to Dave Meltzer....

The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation were the first to report this news, and said the event would return to NOLA in the future, but in an “unspecified year” - which makes it sound like they haven’t figured that out quite yet.

I'm shocked over the whole ordeal and never thought they'd rip WrestleMania plans away once they were made official, especially just to move back to Vegas. I thought maybe Saudi made them an offer they couldn't refuse, or London was finally getting their long-awaited chance to host the "Showcase of the Immortals" - but nope! Right back to Vegas for the convenience of TKO officials! It's nuts! I mean The Rock literally made a whole thing of it, logos were made, hotels were booked, etc!

I can't say I'm a fan of this decision if it winds up being true - part of every WrestleMania's charm at this point is taking over a different city every year and being themed around that, so going anywhere back-to-back is strange. Honestly, I even thought it was strange that they were returning to NOLA so quickly after having WrestleMania 30 and WrestleMania 34 there, but it was such a great/walkable host city that I excused it. Vegas ain't that! Shows were scattered all over the place this year, the streets were horrific in terms of traffic and Uber/cab accessibility, and it ain't exactly a family destination! Sure, the stadium is nice - but plenty of stadiums are nice! I just don't love this.

Will The Rock actually show up this time? Who the hell knows!

P.S. If WrestleMania 42 does in fact return to Las Vegas, it'll only be the second time a city has hosted them in back-to-back years, and ironically, both times would be cities known for gambling and debauchery - WrestleMania 4 and WrestleMania 5 were both held in Atlantic City.
