Scooter Braun "Encourages" Private Equity Firm That Owns Taylor Swift's Music To Sell It Back To Her Because He's Broke
Oh, here we go again......
My friend stalker last, Scooter Braun is yet again poking his slimy head out of the Hole of Hell we sent him into, trying make a quick buck off Taylor Swift.....again? Is this deja vu? Am I living on earth? I'm not exaggerating!
For those who may be living on Mars, Taylor Swift is 4 out of 6 albums finished re-recording her old masters, because of Scooter's actions in 2019. Here's a refresher of what Taylor sent along to Shamrock Capital in October of 2020, the company that purchased her music from Scooter originally for 300 million - it's also a good synopsis as to why all of the diehard fans go so crazy for all of Taylor's re-recorded albums, and why we completely disavow Scooter.
You could understand why this is new news is such a shock! Suddenly we have Taylor's OLD music up for sale again? For the small small price of 600 million-1 BILLION dollars? Wow! What a crazy coincidence! And who, pray tell, is the steam engine behind this sudden sale? Scooter Braun. As written by the NY post:
At the time Swift accused Braun — who managed Justin Bieber and, at one time, Kanye West but not Swift — of being a “bully” and “the definition of toxic male privilege in our industry.”
Braun sold the recordings one year later to investment firm Shamrock Capital for a profit, but the company is now interested in selling them back to Swift.
And, we’re told, the person encouraging Shamrock to do so is Braun.
I won't reference the Post anymore because it's a piece of shit rag now that will print anything that massages the smooth brains of its readers (and those who it thrusts themselves upon on Twitter) but I'm ready to call this a backfire on Scooter Braun's PR camp. This is the quote that did it for me:
Taylor Swift could “exponentially increase” her earnings by buying back her masters, according to a music consulting rep speaking with Page Six: “When she puts out a re-recording version, consumption also spikes on the original.”
So, not only is this "article" trying to show that Scooter is being "helpful" in "getting Taylor's music back to her," it conveniently leaves out the fact that he was the monster who took it away in the first place. Sure, it talks about the sale, but it says that it was all above board, implies that Taylor's dad made a bunch of money on the deal, and as usual…subtly implies that Taylor's entire re-recording endeavor is a dramatic waste of time.
The tweet above (containing a quote from the article) in particular, from my perspective, only plants the seeds into the sponge-minds everyone has that "wow, Taylor's actually losing money to the originals? oh no! she should totally buy them back! she'll be able to make more money! isn't that what she wants? all the money in the world?" WHO SIGNS YOUR CHECKS POP CRAVE/NY POST??
That's where you still don't understand, Scooter, (I know you're reading) and you never will - this isn't all about the money, and it never has been.
If I'm hanging up my Taylor Superfan hat and looking at this from a business perspective, sure. Wouldn't it all be so nice if Taylor owned every bit of music she's ever created, and we all had fun supporting her when she was at her lowest, bringing her fame to completely new heights. She gets to skip off into the sunset without a worry in the world. What's a billion dollars to Taylor? Yet, again, this isn't ONLY about the money for her. It's about being able to own what is hers, and make sure those who took it in the first place, never get to touch a cent of it. It's about setting the precedent for other artists who get taken advantage of in this same way, and hopefully preventing it from happening again. It's for the greater good, not so she can buy a few more houses. From that perspective, as someone who will also hold a grudge forever when wronged? I say fuck them all, Taylor.

You know how I know Scooter has bad intentions here? Well, I'm not sure if you've all seen the headlines….
Sounds like Scooter's looking under the couch cushions for some extra cash, and coming up empty! Time to break the piggy bank in case of emergency, and in this case that happens to be Shamrock Capital. I'd bet my fucking SOUL that Scooter would turn a profit of his own upon the sale of Taylor's music back to her, and you know why I'm so confident about that? If Scooter were doing this all out of the goodness of his heart, he would've made his own statement. He'd be encouraging this sale for Taylor and making it known he's not making a dollar. That hasn't happened, so I am still going to believe the following words from Taylor:
If I support you, as you request, I will be contributing to these future payments to Scooter Braun and Ithaca Holdings. I simply cannot in good conscience bring myself to be involved in benefiting Scooter Braun's interests directly or indirectly. As a result, I cannot currently entertain being partners with you.
It's a shame to know that I will now be unable to help grow the future of these past works and it pains me very deeply to remain separated from the music I spent over a decade creating, but this is a sacrifice I will have to make to keep Scooter Braun out of my life. I'm very sorry he has put you in this position. I wish this could have had a better outcome and please do let me know if your firm is ever completely independent from Scooter Braun and his associates.
REP TV CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A little something I did just discover - it seems as if Shamrock Capital is owned by the Disney family. So, Swifties, could a deal actually be on the horizon? Maybe. I feel confident, however, that Scooter will have absolutely nothing to do with it.
