Back: Max Homa Hit One Of The More Insane Shots During Today's PGA Championship, Made The Announcer Stop What He Was Saying Mid-Sentence
Holy shit, man. That's really the blog, just everyone needs to see this shot on a par-4 and sticking it to a tap-in eagle. I know it's a short par 4, but when you have an announcer saying '347 today, gonna be harder to hit the green' as Max sticks it to there. Yeah, he's got his game clicking right now through his first 9. Started on the back 9, as I blog this he has to get up and down for par on 18 and not in the worst spot for it. I guess we shouldn't be surprised he's figuring it out a bit here at Quail Hollow considering he has decent history at the course.
But, this is what the Tournament needed. We need some of the names we know to start coming up the leaderboard. It's not exactly a secret most fans didn't care about yesterday's round, at least the leaderboard portion. You're not watching a ton of Jhonathan Vegas and Cam Davis or Aaron Rai battle it out. We want the names and Max is setting the tone early. -5 through 8 holes will change how you get ready for the weekend, or at least the back 9 here on Friday.
So shout out Max. Ridiculous shot to get it there, hold the green and nearly ace it. Yes, it's close enough to be considered a near ace. Absurd shot and even better with the announcer changing his mind mid-sentence to holy smokes. Must feel good to hit a shot like that, just once in your career.
PS: Right after I published this he chipped in for birdie on 18 (his 9th). Nice little 30 on the back 9 to get your round going.
