'It Was Almost A Penalty' - A Bunch Of Golfers Went Off About Mud Balls And Preferred Lies At Quail Hollow Today, Scottie Thinks It Cost Him 2 Shots

I'm not saying this because I like Scottie, I'm saying this because it's an actual answer. He's not just giving your typical whining or stock answer. He explained everything about the mud balls and why today should have been preferred lies. Me personally? I don't give a shit. I prefer to watch a little bit of carnage, but there is something about the purity of golf like he said. There is 100% truth in the fact of him talking about working to know exact distance and spin and everything else with each shot and mud balls completely ruining that. In fact he wasn't the only one to say something:

Again, from a viewership standpoint, chaos rules. But yeah, you should never get penalized for hitting it in the middle of the fairway. It's my one problem when it comes to golf rules. I know divots are usually the biggest complaint and people are torn on, I just think if you hit the ball where you are supposed to, you shouldn't face some sort of penalty. I also know the biggest argument against any of this stuff is every golfer will then look for an advantage. There's no happy medium that people have come up with or anything that works.

What Scottie and Xander are complaining about was on 16 when they both hit it into the water. Again, this is where their argument is coming from. It's the whole unpredictability of hitting a mud ball, you can say just punch it or leave it short, that quickly can change with the mud.

Here's ultimately what it comes down to. We need some bigger names on the board. Right now you have people talking about Ryder Cup captains competing and Ryan Gerard being a Carolina guy. I know it's early, but you need some juice with the names.
