'Never Heard From Him' - Miami's Mario Cristobal Claims He Spoke To Everyone Before The Draft About Cam Ward ... Except, Of Course, Mel Kiper
I don't think I've seen a story from the NFL Draft sort of explode like Mel Kiper and Shedeur Sanders. We've seen guys slide, we've seen random things pop up, but Mel Kiper in full on meltdown mode every time a quarterback was taken over Shedeur Sanders was as bizarre as it gets.
And now we have Miami's head coach coming out and saying he talked to every single NFL team, TV person, you name it besides one. It just so happens to be the guy who was losing his goddamn mind over Shedeur Sanders. It makes more sense now to why Kiper was freaking out, he clearly was just all-in on Shedeur Sanders. He wasn't going to let anything else stop him from being the guy who planted his flag as Shedeur Sanders' number 1 fan.
It is weird that even since the Draft it feels like we've heard very little about Cam Ward. I know part of it is the Titans and just getting into the swing of things, but it feels like we've heard more about every other quarterback taken. We've gotten the walk into mini camp videos, the reports about how every quarterback looks awesome (this is true about Jaxson Dart) and everything else, except from the No. 1 overall pick.
I said it before, but part of me has some backing of Mel Kiper. If you truly believe something, you dig your heels in and you don't budge from it. You call out the NFL for not knowing how to scout quarterbacks, only you do. You call out the teams for making mistakes, not you. That's how you accurately defend your argument. But, that doesn't stop it from being weird when you're on national television and basically hijack the draft.
