I Don't Know Which Is Worse From This "Fan", Reading A Book Or Being Barefoot
What a scene. Going to a game is still one of the best experiences out there if you ask me. A game moves the needle more than a movie, a broadway show, a concert etc. And playoff games move the needle that much more. Tickets are hard to get, the intensity is dialed up, the pressure is at an all time high. Playoff games deliver, especially a closeout game. You have the ability to see your team advance and continue their quest for a title. You are balancing nerves and excitement, even more so if it's a back and forth game with a ton of moments etc. You spent a ton to get there, you are dialed in from the jump.
Unless of course you are this guy and you are reading a book. And to make it worse, took his shoes off. WHAT ?!!! Let's tackle the shoes first. How could this fly with anyone near him in the section? No one thought to say "hey buddy, what's the deal?" If someone was smoking a cigarette in a place you couldn't, someone would definitely be called out. I don't get how someone didn't drop a dime on this guy treating a game like he's in the comfort of his home with a freshly vacuumed carpet. Bizarre. Call him out, make a scene.
Now, let's tackle the elephant in the room. A book? First off, it's borderline insane to spend money on this game and bring a book. How can you at any point think this is acceptable? Also, based on the noise, how much of the information do you expect to retain? There's chants, songs, loud cheers, etc. You think you can remember ANYTHING over the course of a chapter? Bananas. Also how about how disrespectful this is to a- the people you went to the game with, and 2- the people who couldn't afford tickets and wanted to go? Just the stupidest guy in the world to go to a game and actively not be interested, a slap in the face to the game.
Final note ... the captions say this is a Pacers fan, is this actually a Cavs fan, and the Cavs fan who filmed it didn't want his fan base to look bad? I have my doubts that a Pacers fan would spend all that money and travel to go to Cleveland and not pay attention. I think it's a Cavs fan.
