A Struggle That Is All Too Real...Avoiding Throwing Up The Morning Of College Graduation

College Graduation Morning ... a day to be celebrated but also dreaded if you did it right. You are proud of your accomplishment but also hate to leave your time on campus and sad to end the last period in your life where you can do whatever the fuck you want. Sleep til 3pm, play video games, have a few drinks on a Tuesday, etc. Just a great four years. Graduation morning is fun too because whether you realize it or not it could be the last time you see a lot of your friends, especially if you went away to school.

The week leading up to graduation is some of the best times of your four years. "Senior Week" is organized debauchery. Bar crawls, night outs in the city, parties etc. You are encouraged to have fun ...even by the school. They set us up with buses to Foxwoods and Boston back to back nights, put us in hotels etc. It's a nice little gift for paying a boat load in tuition. The night before Graduation is at a bar with parents friends and families. The afterparty for us ended up being on the football field where we continued to enjoy our last night together. Someone even got a key to the golf carts and decided to crash through 4-5 rows of chairs that were set up for the ceremony, but that's besides the point.

As great as the night before Graduation is, waking up Graduation morning is the struggle of all struggles. Everyone is hung over, everyone is tired, and no one wants to sit through a 3 hour ceremony with a ton of speeches you won't be listening to. There is also the very realization of "I may throw up" going on in your head. It's a brutal tightrope to walk. You are putting on a great face on the outside for pictures with Mom,Dad,your friends, Nana, etc but on the inside your stomach is screaming in pain. You have to power through. You have to either eat, take a shower, or Advil, or if all else fails keep drinking, but you CANNOT be the guy who throws up at Graduation and if you are you CANNOT let someone catch you doing it on camera. Find a bathroom, get it out of the way before you get ready, or anything you can, but just do not be the guy or girl caught doing it, even though everyone is fighting the same fight.
