After Their 21-0 Loss Last Night And 33rd Defeat In Just 39 Games, It's Almost Hard To Put Into Words How Bad The Colorado Rockies Are

Last year the Chicago White Sox set the MLB record for losses in a full season with an astounding 121 defeats. It was an amazing mark of futility that could only be achieved by next level incompetency. Failed drafts, terrible signings, little to zero scouting, aging vets, flopped prospects, horrid trades, piss poor play, terrible ownership, and putrid management all led to that historic season. Surely that wouldn't be repeatable, right? Bad teams across the country would see that season and do whatever they could to not reset the record, right? RIGHT?

The Colorado Rockies have loudly and proudly asked them to hold their beer.

Through 39 games the Rockies are 6 and 33. Six wins. 33 losses. Do you understand how hard that is to do? It's baseball. The Dodgers lost a series to the Nationals this year. Weird shit happens where good teams slip up and it's tough to be on top of your game at all times. Well, the Rockies are an anomaly. Look at how much worse they are to this point than the 2024 White Sox.

They lost last night at home 21-0. If a fucking NFL team lost 21-0 that'd be embarrassing and that's just a three touchdown difference. 21-0 in baseball is impossible. That's the equivalent of like 70-0 in football.

Their run over the last four games is historic.

They haven't won a series in 2025. They have one singular two game winning streak. The pitching has allowed twice as many runs as the offense has scored. Their run differential currently stands at -134. The Orioles (HAHA) are the next closest to that number at -69. This is indescribable what we're witnessing here.

What's crazy about the Rockies being beyond dog shit is that they aren't at the dead bottom of the league in spending. We're not talking about the Marlins or Pirates who spend less than $100M on payroll. To an extent the Rockies spend money. Of course not on the level of premier teams, but a $121M payroll should not result in a 6-33 record. The thing is they just refuse to put their money in good places. Kris Bryant's atrocity of a contract is a good example of that. How that ever got agreed to is beyond me. They've never been able to attract pitching talent because of Coors Field's air. They don't develop anyone. It’s just one big circle of miserableness. If you're on this team you're praying to play well enough for a few months that you find yourself traded at the deadline. Unfortunately the Rockies hate making any moves so you're probably just trapped there.

Do the Rockies have diehard fans left? Are they still alive? The days of Matt Holliday, Todd Helton, Tulo, and Brad Hawpe are long gone. The Arenado led teams went to the playoffs twice, losing immediately both times. What's the attraction of following this team religiously? The beauty of rooting for a bad sports team is when they finally break through it’s all worth it, but when is that happening here? Look at the NL West. Everyone else is above .500 and then you have the Rockies who are already 19.5 GB. If they played .500 baseball the rest of the way they're still losing over 90 games. The roster isn't remotely serious. I have an obsession with baseball and I could only tell you I know nine players here out of the starting lineup and pitchers.

Are you under duress if you routinely go to these games? According to ESPN they're still drawing 25,000 a game. They were 15th in attendance last season, which put them ahead of a team like the Mets! Are you all desperate to find a hobby that gets you out of the house and distracts you from your family? Do you find the terrible play amusing? I need to meet diehard Rockies fans and hear their stories. I admire the shit out of them, but I'm also confused.

While it's gotta be tough to be on this team, player or coach, these guys all get paid good money to do this. They could be doing much worse things for far less pay. What about ticket sales employees? How on Earth do you do your job successfully? Who are you calling to persuade to buy Rockies season tickets? Coors Field feels like a fun place to watch a game and the mountains are beautiful to view in the background, but only to have you watch this “team” get shit pumped at a historic rate. Sell the team, fire the whole front office, sacrifice a player, start cheating, do something man.
