Is It Time For Arsenal To Move On From Martin Odegaard?
This was my first full season watching football, and I’ve learned a lot. I realized just how long and draining the season can be. I came to understand the significance of both domestic and international competitions. I’ve picked up chants, learned the rules around bookings, become familiar with referees' names, and so much more.
But what stood out to me the most is how absolutely insane every fan base is genuinely unhinged at times. In America, when a team loses a big game, they might get clowned on Twitter for a day or two. But if you’re a big European club and lose a major match, you’re getting cooked by the entire world. I’ve never seen a team get mocked online as badly as Arsenal did after losing to PSG.
After hours of scrolling through nonstop hate, one player stood out the most: Arsenal’s captain, Martin Ødegaard. It’s no secret he’s had a rough year, but fans are acting like he’s never contributed anything to the club as if he didn’t play through the whole season with a bad ankle. I’m not saying he’s above criticism, but the way people are talking about him, you’d think he was the antichrist. It’s absurd.
Anyone suggesting we get rid of him is out of their mind. He’s our captain, and it’s already been confirmed he’ll remain captain next season as he should. Let the man heal over the summer and give him a fair shot before these so-called fans try to put his head on a stake.
