"Keep Believing In Us, Keep Riding" - A Tearful Kyle Freeland's Message To Rockies Fans As The Team Falls To Miserable 6-31

It's time to talk about the sad situation going on in the Rocky Mountains up there. Your Colorado Rockies, yet again, are the worst team in baseball. They lost 3 games in 24 hours this week, including losing a doubleheader on Thursday by a combined score of 21-3. 10-2 and 11-1 losses coming on the heels modest 8-6 loss in extras on Wednesday night. But once again they are playing uninspired, bad baseball. -109 run differential, on pace for over 135 losses, tied with the 1988 Baltimore Orioles for the worst start through 37 games, and that '88 Orioles team started the season 0-21. Remember how much crap we talked on the White Sox last year? That team was 9-28 through 37 games, a series sweep better than Colorado. This is a god awful baseball team with no real future at all. It's so bad up there they had pitcher Kyle Freeland in tears on the podium asking the fans to believe in them after his game 1 loss.

Freeland went 3 innings, gave up 11 hits, 9 runs, 5 earned, and walked 1, that brings his record to 0-5 and a 6.41 ERA. He'd be the Orioles 2 if we're being honest. You've got to feel for Freeland, this is a really, really bad baseball team and the losing takes a toll on you. No one wants to go through these awful rebuilds, no one wants to be on pace for 130+ losses, that's just where the Rockies are right now and it doesn't seem like their ownership gives a shit. No farm system, an awful contract with Kris Bryant (who just underwent back surgery), 0 future, and not any real major league talent on that club. Going through rebuilds sucks, it just doesn't seem like the Rockies have a plan on how to get out of this one. Credit to Freeland for making the attempt to get the fans engaged and on their side. It can't be easy going to the park everyday knowing you're going to get your teeth kicked in.

No real clue why it's not being talked about more about how bad this team and franchise is currently. They haven't won a series this season and have now been swept 6 times. It's beyond rock bottom for them, it's been like this for a while.  The only thing going well for the Rockies is their beautiful ballpark that still gets semi-decent crowds. My only question is where are the diehard Rockies fans? Do those people exist? How are you not one the moon mad at this if you're still tuning in every night and watching 150+ games of awful Rockies baseball? It's not like they're tanking to get some top pick either, there's no game changing Bobby Witt Jr. type guy coming to them. A future face of the franchise, someone to put asses in the seats. They're losing just because they suck. No plan on how to get the train back on the track.

It can't be easy being in that clubhouse, especially with an upcoming schedule from hell. Take a look at their next 7 series.

vs Padres

@ Rangers

@ Diamondbacks

vs Phillies

vs Yankees

@ Cubs

@ Mets

That certainly is a gauntlet of a schedule, not going to be a fun run for them. But me thinks ole Buddy Black won't be manager of the Rockies for much longer. Pirates fired Derek Shelton yesterday so now all eyes are on the Rockies, this schedule may be the final nail in the coffin. They may reach 50 losses before they get to 10 wins, something to keep an eye on. Sucks for the guys like Freeland who are good players and have worked their ass off to be in a situation like this, you can see how rough it is on these guys. They know they're bad, just nothing they can really do. Not sure the fans will take Freeland's advice, we're looking at an all-time bad team.
