Make Them Say No: Joe Schoen Called The Titans GM One Last Time While They Were On The Clock To See If They'd Trade Cam Ward

I know this is boys being boys and a little GM humor. But, Schoen is 100% serious here. The man wanted Cam Ward and if it wasn't for Drew Lock playing out of his goddamn mind and the Colts being miserable, Cam Ward is a Giant. It's also not a secret the Giants tried trading for him before

Obviously the Titans were dead set on Cam Ward, but maybe Schoen watched Draft Day earlier in the afternoon and figured he had a little luck on his side. Maybe someone didn't attend Cam Ward's birthday and the Titans were ready to trade him. Again, the worst that happens is this. The Titans say no, the Giants still get the best player in the draft in Abdul Carter and get a quarterback in Jaxson Dart. Fine by me! 

I'll say it again, the Giants draft gave me hope as a fan. It's a massive win. No one knows how any of these guys are really going to be as pros, but they made smart picks. They have a quarterback of the future that they don't have to rush and didn't give up the entire future for. They have Abdul Carter. They have thunder and lightning now in the backfield. Love Schoen playing a little mind games here with the Titans though. Make them second guess for a second before hearing no one last time. You never know what can happen on a phone call.
