Metallica Performing 'Enter Sandman' Is One of the Coolest Concert Moments Ever
This is sick. "Enter Sandman" has to be the song most inextricably linked to a college football team that isn't that school's own fight song and now after seeing Virginia Tech run out of the tunnel in Lane Stadium hundreds of times with it blaring through the speakers, Blacksburg got to see the real thing.
If you were showing someone who had no idea what college football was why they should watch it, Virginia Tech's entrance is one of the videos you would highlight. It takes a very particular set of circumstances to be able to have an entrance this good without your band or anything tangibly related to your school, but the Hokies pulled it off and now it's one of the best in the sport.
Garth Brooks performed "Callin' Baton Rouge" at Tiger Stadium a few years ago and it doesn't even hold a candle to this. Bands and the atmosphere they help create are one of my favorite things about college football every Saturday, so seeing Virginia Tech's de facto second band perform in Lane Stadium is awesome.
The best news of all is that 16 weeks from today, there will be college football games on television and we are as close to the start of the 2025 season as we are to the conclusion of the 2024 campaign. God bless.
