A Dad Documented the Cost of One Day at Disney World for a Family of 5 and It Will Make You Physically Ill

"Disney World is expensive as shit," isn't exactly breaking news, but it somehow hits harder when you see it broken down piece by piece. It's death by a thousand cuts.

Nearly $1,400 for a group that didn't have to fly to Orlando and stay in a hotel. If you added 20 percent of five plane tickets — dividing the cost evenly among a five-day trip — and two rooms at a Disney hotel for one night, that day probably costs $2,500. That will zap the magic out of you real quick.

And while I can imagine seeing Disney World through the eyes of your children is a wonderful experience, how much can you enjoy it when you have to pull out your wallet for six separate $40 trips to a concession stand? That man is broken and doing his best to smile through the pain. Also, he only mentions going on three rides. I hope for his sake there were more and he wasn't just walking around in the Florida heat all day buying Mickey pretzels.

Disney World used to be something, man. It was never cheap, but you at least felt like you got something for your money and it was a good time. Sad to see what a once-great American institution has become.
