Ben Affleck Confirmed His 'Armageddon' DVD Commentary Was The Best Work Of His Career, So Let's Give The Whole Thing A Listen Again
I miss DVD extras so fucking bad man. There was truly something special about being able to dig deeper into your favorite movie with commentary tracks, bloopers, deleted scenes, menu easter eggs... But now we just have endless slop on streaming with none of that.
Content that can be removed at any moment for any reason, and simply doesn't encourage studios to give a heck about making that bonus stuff anymore. How are kids surviving at sleepovers these days without DVD menu loops haunting their dreams?
That shit was FORMATIVE in the 2000's...
It's no secret that Ben Affleck's DVD commentary for Armageddon is legendary, it's gone viral many times before, but never has the man himself confirmed it's his best work. And it's hard to argue with gems like this...
But I learned something today too. 1) This was only available on the Criterion Special Edition LaserDisc & DVD release, but NOT included in other physical DVD copies… And 2) Affleck wasn't removing loads of piss the entire time, he actually was pretty complimentary at certain parts too.
Truthfully I've always just laughed at that 3 minutes and called it a day, never needing to see the rest. How the fuck would I even play that digital disc? They don't even put those players in PS5 anymore.
Well friends, fear not because the ENTIRE commentary with Michael Bay, Ben Affleck, Bruce Willis & Jerry Bruckheimer is on YouTube and posted below. Granted the movie itself isn't included with it but we all know the Harry Stamper story by now,.
So sit back and enjoy the full load of piss like it's a podcast, I know you don't wanna miss a thing. Thanks Battfleck!
PS: Did you know the Criterion Closet is just a coverted truck anyone can enter? Always thought it was studio they filmed in, anyway not to be crass but where is the porn version of this content? I need to see Pirate Simon break down why 'PII: Stagnetti's Revenge' doesn't hold up as a true sequel without Carmen Luvana in it. I'm sure he has THOUGHTS.
