Watch: New Flying Speeder Bike Can Move At 125 MPH And Could Be Available To Buy Soon? Star Wars Fans REJOICE.
How the hell is this not posted everywhere? Are there way more hoverbike inventions out there I just don't know about? Camera tricks be damned this looks like the real fucking deal. Actual science fiction living and breathing on planet earth.
As someone who always enjoyed scrolling through a Popular Mechanics magazine in various waiting rooms, I've always wondered if flying cars would actually be a thing in my lifetime. This makes me feel like we're pretty damn close. And I gotta give a huge hat tip to the Polish inventor, Tomasz Patan, for doing the exact marketing that should be done with a speeder bike.
Slap on a Stormtrooper uniform and let it FLY in the forest of Endor. Well played sir.
(Yanko Design) - In flight, it doesn’t hover like a drone. It punches into the air. Dust erupts from underneath, flung out by directional jet propulsion. There are no blades rotating at high speed. The lift and thrust come from an enclosed jet system that Volonaut has yet to fully detail. That absence of external rotors gives it a tactical advantage. It can thread through denser terrain, move closer to vertical surfaces, and operate with reduced safety buffer zones.
A proprietary stabilization system runs the show in the background. Inputs are filtered and managed by the flight computer, allowing the rider to steer, bank, and hover with fewer corrections. The machine reads fast and reactive in test footage, more akin to a powered exoskeleton than an autonomous platform.
The structure weighs a fraction of what you’d expect. According to Volonaut, it’s seven times lighter than a motorcycle. Carbon fiber forms the outer surfaces, while key structural elements are 3D printed. No fairings. No design bulk. It’s all driven by utility. That minimalism not only reduces mass but also exposes more airflow paths, keeping the system cooler and more stable under sustained thrust.

After a bunch of failed prototypes, their 1st successful flight was in May 2023. So far they haven't given an exact timeline of when you can buy this at home but they did seem confident it would be soon.
Until doing this blog research I didn't realize there's already a whole subsection of flying devices that somehow don't require a pilots license? Miss me with those, especially since they just aren't as sleek as Patan's invention…
I'll certainly be rooting for the Volonaut Airbike to find some continued success and also not get vaporized into a tree. At the very least it's goddamn amazing to see technology straight outta Star Wars come into our world. And how can you root against a scrappy couple like this?
Life partner goals for real.
And if you clicked in here as a curious Star Wars fan I highly recommend the 24 hour stream Robbie Fox just did on May 4thBeWithYou
If I'm able to buy that bike my Ben Quadinaros cosplay will finally be useful for next years stream. Oh thank The Maker!
