Michigan's Commencement Speaker Let Everyone Know Their Class Beat Ohio State "Not One, Not Two, Not Three, But Four Times"
You might think I'm about to trash this kid but I'm not. I'd have done the exact same thing as him. Could you imagine going to a school that hadn't beaten their rival in a hundred years, and then for the four years you're there (with the help of the most egregious cheating scandal in the history of the sport), you beat them every single time? I'd shout it from the mountain tops too. Even more respect if the kid changed Buckeyes to "Fuckeyes" like it sounds like he did....
Look, the fact of the matter is The Rivalry has never been stronger. Growing up, we won every single time. Jim Tressel went 9-1 against them. Urban Meyer went 7-0. And even Ryan Day won his first (and next because Harbaugh faked covid). I'd NEVER want to lose, but losing meant the pendulum had swung in their direction for the first time in my entire life. And then they won again, and again, and again. Which leads us to now….where I can see why both sides would feel they're on top. I mean, they've beaten us 4x in a row. Any Ohio State fan that isn't bothered by that is either not an Ohio State fan or lying to your face. BUT, we won the National Championship….and that's the only response we need to argue with. They planted the flag, but we won the National Championship. They're bragging at their commencement, but we won the National Championship. They paid $12 million to flip a hometown kid who had no intentions of staying in Michigan until Oracle Boy's wife brought out the checkbook, but we won the National Championship. It really is the perfect storm. Both sides think they're winning the battle, and it only makes this year's game even stronger. Can Ryan Day really lose 5 in a row to the rival? I don't see how that's possible…..but we won the National Championship and I'm not hearing otherwise.
And the fact that the top 2 QB recruits in the country are from Michigan and Ohio and both stayed home only makes this even better. I fucking love being a part of the best and most hated rivalry in all of sport. So yeah, no hate from me to this kid (aside from him wearing those colors which immediately makes me hate him). But congrats on giving on a good speech to your classmates and their families, well done. I'd have done the same if I were in his shoes. I do want a redaction once the hammer comes down and takes away three of those wins though***
