The Cake Boss Allegedly Told Police "You Can't Arrest Me! I'm The Cake Boss!" As Police Were Arresting Him
ABC - "Cake Boss" star Buddy Valastro says he will share details of his DWI arrest "at a later date."
The reality star released a statement to ABC News, saying, "To all my family, friends, fans and supporters, please know that I want to share and explain to you what happened today and I look forward to doing so at a later date. I appreciate your support and understanding as we handle things privately as a family."
Valastro was arrested early Thursday morning and appeared in court later that afternoon, for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
The reality TV star, who has not yet entered a plea, was offered a deal that would include a 90-day driver's license suspension and a $300 fine.
According to the prosecutor, Valastro told cops during his arrest, "I had a couple drinks. You can't arrest me! I'm the Cake Boss." The prosecutor also said that Valestro insisted several times, "I'm a good guy." He added: "Can you just put me in a cab? I don’t have to be arrested, I’m not a bad guy."
Valastro, 42, was pulled over around 1 a.m. on Thursday on Tenth Avenue on New York City's West Side. After failing a field sobriety test, he was arrested in his 2014 yellow Corvette early today for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
I'm sorry, you know I love and respect our men and women in uniform dearly, but does The Cake Boss not have diplomatic immunity in New Jersey and the five boroughs?
For crying out loud, he made the going away present cake for Derek Jeter.
Does that carry no weight anymore?
I don’t know about you, but if I ever get popped for anything, I want to have this kind of confidence. Buddy didn’t say, “I’m sorry.” He didn’t apologize and reserve his right to remain silent.
He basically said, “I’m covered in flour and legacy. I’m a national treasure.”
Also, word to the wise, if you see someone behind the wheel of a yellow Corvette at 1 a.m., I can guarantee you they either just got divorced and/or just yelled, “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?” at somebody. Or plan to.
p.s. - this was pretty sick too
