Mark Williams Wasted No Time Trolling The Lakers By Immediately Celebrating Their Downfall After They Got Bounced In The First Round

Outside of Lakers fans, it's hard to find someone who hasn't enjoyed the Lakers getting packed up in 5 games and losing in the first round. Whether it's Nico Harrison, Wolves fans, the fanbases of 29 other teams, Lakers haters around the globe it's all been great.

Then of course, there's Mark Williams. You see, if one thing became crystal clear last night, it's that the Lakers not having a center was one of the dumbest things a franchise could do from a team building perspective. Needing to rely on "Jaxson Hayes" is no way to build a roster, nor is it going to prepare you for a playoff run where you have to deal with actual size. This isn't a hot take, even the Lakers knew this. Why? Because they tried to trade for Mark Williams from the Hornets. Remember that? He was going to be the athletic 7ft rim running center you pair next to Luka and run P&R. We saw how that worked with the Lively/Gafford frontcourt in DAL, so once the Lakers made the Luka trade (and gave up their center), that was the net logical step.

The issue of course, is that out of nowhere, they rescinded the trade

In hindsight, probably should have let that one through! There were reports that maybe he didn't pass the physical or whatever, yet this was his game log after the trade deadline

I'm no doctor, but it seems like he's OK to me! Feels like that's the type of move you roll the dice on, especially when the only other alternative is to either

A) Not have a center

B) Play Jaxson Hayes

In hindsight, seeing as how Rudy Gobert just had his way with the Lakers to end their season, rescinding that trade doesn't look like the best idea!

Which is why it should come as no surprise that out of all the people out there that took pleasure in the Lakers demise, Mark Williams is high on that list. He wasted no time trolling the Lakers the second the clock hit 0.0

Look, Mark Williams may not be the perfect player, but something tells me he would have made an impact in this series had he been able to stay healthy. Frankly, any sort of center with a pulse would have helped, and you know what? Good on Mark Williams for talking his shit. That whole situation was fucked when it went down, and it's not like Dalton Knecht was a factor for the Lakers so really you could say they got what they deserved. The fact that the Lakers now have to go out this summer and try to find a center, they'll probably end up paying more for a guy who still will stink compared to if they just let this Mark Williams trade go through.

This sort of feels like in fantasy when you have a trade agreed upon, and thenat  the last second, the other guy changes his mind and kills the deal. Only assholes do that. Once that happens, you run the risk of angering the sports Gods, and that's clearly what happened here with the Lakers. This was their karma. I mean, think about it. They had a trade for a 7ft athletic center, pulled out, and then ultimately watched their season come to an end because they did not have a 7ft athletic center that they could put out there to limit Gobert. Instead, they tried Maxi Kleber. Good move!

And while it's not exactly like Mark Williams and the Hornets are tearing up the NBA, that's whatever. Someone will trade for him just like we see with every decent player that's stuck on a shit team. So at this moment in time I think it's fair that he get to talk his shit and troll online. The Lakers screwed him over, so this is only fair.
