Caps Move On In 5, Non-Puck Knowers In Shambles
I'm going to be nice because this blog should be about how easily the Caps are moving on to round 2, but I can't shake the fact there are people who really picked against the Caps in this series. People who are paid to watch and analyze hockey year-round really picked against the Caps. This Caps team who was easily the best team in the East all season. This Caps team who locked up a playoff spot in Mid-January. This Caps team that has guys like Ovi, Tom Wilson, Dylan Strome, John Carlson, King Protas, and a goalie in Logan Thompson who was 31-6-6 this season. People really picked against THIS TEAM? Again, not going to mention names because I'm mature. But shame on them. Shame, shame, shame on them.
Now we move on to the real playoffs and Carolina. I'm not gonna sit here and act like the Canes aren't good. The Canes are in fact good. They score, they hit, they cause trouble. Rod the Bod is a good coach too. So don't call me biased. I know puck and can recognize a good team when I see one. I respect the Canes. But I don't think they beat this Caps team in a best of 7. I think the Caps, especially with a healthy Protas and with LT at the top of his game, are too good to lose to the Canes. Ovi will have about a week of rest between series too, which is a big plus for the old man.
It was fun playing Montreal. They will eventually be a good team when their young core catches up to the NHL level. But let's pump the brakes on them right now. Demidov was the worst 5 on 5 player in the entire series. Maybe he'll eventually be good, but this wasn't his coming out party by any means.
About a week off and then bring on the Canes. BANDZ.
