Today in Belichick News: He Defends His Girlfriend's by Going on Offense Against CBS's 'Selectively Edited Clips' and 'False Narrative'

You had to see this coming. Anyone who's been paying even the slightest bit of attention throughout the most successful coaching reign since Red Auerbach or John Wooden had to know this is where all this was headed. Maybe the people on the current events podcasts I've heard talking about the Bill Belichick-Jordon Hudson-CBS Sunday Morning controversy that's gripped the nation had no clue. Because they don't know the man the way some of us do. But I understood a reckoning was inevitable.

Belichick is a man who is slow to anger. Mostly because he's a lion who does not care about the opinions of sheep. Or jackals. But like Christopher Walken explains, one day the lion gets up and tears the shit out of everyone. Runs like the wind. Eats everything in his path. Because every once in a while, the lion has to show the jackals … who. He. Is.

And that "once in a while," is today:

That's what I've been waiting for. As with controversies and non-troversies going back as far as I can remember. From benching Bernie Kosar in Cleveland to benching Drew Bledsoe in New England. From shooting his way out of New York with a shocking press conference to Spygate. From 4th & 2 to the 2001 Rams' walk-through tape to sitting Malcolm Butler to Deflategate. He'll let the media control the narrative until he won't. Until enough is enough and he's setting the record straight.

I mean, these three paragraphs are the very essence of the way he's conducted his affairs for 50-plus years spent in the public eye. He laid down the rules, and the media welshed on their agreement. Time and time again, it seems.

What was Jordon up to? Altogether now … Doing. Her. Job.

What was he up to? Staying focused on the task at hand, which is getting the public interested in his book.

What was Tony Dukoupil and his producers up to? Manipulating the facts. Altering the data. Selectively presenting the facts to suit their agenda. Which was to create a false narrative. Which is exactly what all those other various controversies and -Gates were all about. The difference this time out is no one can take draft picks away or fine him. Even when the people who conspired against him did, it didn't stop all the winning.

Yesterday I suggest all this might just be Belichick generating even further interest in the book. Just another of his innumerable PsyOps. Something to keep his opponents so fixated on nonsense that they don't realize they're being manipulated. Like letting Tony Dungy's Colts think he bugged the visitors locker room or the Steelers thinking he was jamming their helmet radios. Meanwhile, he was keeping his eyes on the prize. Which in this case, is hitting the top of the New York Times bestseller list

At least I'm hoping that's what all this is. Just book promotion. I prefer my Bill Belichick in total command. Master of all he surveys. And only looking like a pathetic cuck dancing on the end of a young woman's puppet strings because of selectively edited false narratives. This might just be my own motivated reasoning. Me believing what I want to be true.

Either way, going forward, maybe it'll be best to just let the GOAT of handling difficult media stories handle all the difficult media stories. It's worked out pretty well that way since long before the assistant he shares both a personal and professional relationship with was born.
