Probably Not The Best Idea For The Nationals To Have Their Fireworks Night On The Same Day As "Pups In The Park"

Most of the promotions we get around MLB are pretty good and they usually all have a pretty big success rate I'd say. Two of the more popular promo nights around baseball are fireworks and bringing your dogs to the ballpark. Who doesn't love a good "bark in the park" or "pups in the park" night? Those promo nights sound great, except if you combine them and have a ballpark full of dogs with fireworks going off. Who in their right mind in the Nats marketing department thought it would be a great idea to schedule a dog night on the same night as the fireworks, which also happened to be a packed game vs the Mets with Juan Soto returning to DC for the first time as a Met? I mean that is a perfect storm of things you don't want to deal with if you brought your pooch to the park. Most teams will do their "bark in the park" nights on like a Tuesday or Wednesday night, not a Friday night vs a division rival. That right there is crazy enough in itself, you've got 30,000 people at a ballpark and there are already fireworks planned. Maybe don't invite the pups that night?

I love my dog more than any of you love your dog and there is 0.0% chance I'd bring him to a game like this. It seems like there are way too many things that could go wrong. And I get that they didn't do the fireworks right after the game and gave folks 20 minutes to get the pups away from the ballpark. But again, there's 30K people in the ballpark, you aren't getting out of the vicinity within 20 minutes after the last out. No shot that's enough time to get to a place where the dogs won't be going crazy due to the fireworks. All around a dumb move by the Nats here, I'm shocked not one person raised their hand and was like "hey, let's not do this because most dogs don't handle loud noises that well." Just a thought you know? Most dogs go crazy when any fireworks are in the area, let alone if you're in the ballpark with them going off. Maybe the most piss poor promo I've ever seen, easily avoidable as well. Imagine your dog freaks out and yanks out of his collar and takes off into Nats park. Nightmare situation for anyone there. And if you didn't bring your dogs, you don't want to sit in the crowd with dogs trembling in fear all around you. That doesn't really add to the ambiance and atmosphere.

Boo to the people in that meeting who didn't decide to move dog night to another night, fireworks on Friday is fine. Fireworks with dogs in the park is an absolutely idiotic idea and I legit can't believe they let that fly. Common sense isn't used that much in any areas of life anymore I guess.  Seemed like a simple fix once it was discovered that this could be a problem, guess not for the Nationals marketing folks. Can't wait for the next "pup in the park night", I'm sure they will schedule it for the same night as "all players change their walk-up songs to doorbell noise" night. Should be a great time then as well!
