Only The Browns: Cleveland Trades Up To Take Shedeur Sanders After Already Having Taken Dillion Gabriel

Holy fucking shit. My jaw literally dropped when I watched this pop up on the ESPN DraftCast from the back seat of this rental car driving from Los Angeles to San Diego. I thought I was officially off Shedeur Watch as of last night when the Browns took Dillion Gabriel in the 3rd round, but Cleveland just traded up to pick #144 to snag another QB, the story of the draft, Sheduer Sanders.

But this time it wasn't a prank: Andrew Berry and the Browns went and got Sheduer. Just in the nick of time too, it appears! After 4 rounds, I'm sure Shedeur was about to fly off the board at any second. If you wanted him, you had to trade up and go get him. Clear as day. Another big brain move by Cleveland.

Okay, honest gut reaction: we don't need the circus. I don't get the pick. I understand the idea of taking a flyer in the 5th on a player who was possibly going #1 at one point.....but my question for the Browns is: why now? If we ever wanted him even a little bit, we would've made that clear at 2....or 5....or 33...or 36....or when we took Dillion Gabriel in the 3rd round. That pick made zero sense then and it makes even less sense now. We've always been a dumpster fire, but now we have a fucking circus on our hands.

Here is the state of the Browns QB room:

This needs its own television show. Deshaun mentoring Shedeur. What could go wrong? And we already know Joe Flacco doesn't like to mentor people. And how the fuck does Dillon Gabriel fit in? Is he really ahead of Shedeur on Day 1? And why'd we trade for Kenny Pickett.

In a vacuum, drafting Shedeur in the 5th makes sense. No risk. But outside that vacuum, this pick makes zero fucking sense. Only the Browns. I'm sure this will end well….
