Jalon Walker Is the Biggest Steal of the NFL Draft and the First Ever Georgia Bulldog the Falcons Have Selected in the First Round

As long as I can remember, Falcons fans — the overwhelming majority of whom are also Georgia fans — have bemoaned the franchise for never using a first round pick on someone from UGA. When Atlanta passed on Todd Gurley in 2015 in favor of Vic Beasley, people lost their fucking minds. But if ever there was a time to break the seal, it was now.

I don't think anyone anticipated Jalon Walker being available at No. 15. You could make a great case he's the best edge rusher available in this draft and the Falcons were able to get him halfway through the first round. After a disaster of a Thursday night last year, this pick seems to be a home run all things considered. So we're even, I guess.

It's weird to see the Falcons not go completely off-script and take an offensive skill position player for no reason at all. They did use the entirety of the clock to make this pick, though, so maybe there were some fun conversations going on.

Welcome, Jalon. Please continue getting after quarterbacks.
