Disgusting - Fordham Hoops Hit With Penalties For The Heinous Violations Of Taking Pictures Of Recruits In Times Square And Going Bowling

[Source] - For instance, on eight occasions the team paid for recruits to enjoy various activities that exceeded the NCAA’s $75 per day limit on entertainment spending. These activities included trips for players and their parents to see the New York Giants, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and U.S. Open sporting events. Lesser violations included paid outings at bowling alleys and an instance in which the team rented jet skis for a recruit. All together, the cost of these various impermissible benefits added up to an approximate total of $10,736.

Now to be fair this all stems back to 2021. But in a world where we are hearing programs spend $10 million on rosters, people leaving and going as they please and no rules we have Fordham getting hit with penalties for this. Bowling? Jet skis? Might as well add a trip to Myrtle Beach in here because that's basically all it is. Oh and don't forget the disgusting act of taking pictures of recruits in Times Square? How dare you! That's basically a step away from the death penalty and what we saw from SMU football back in the day.

I just can't get over how stupid this all is. This is decent violations too. Having to vacate games, whatever, that's as dumb of a ruling as it gets. But recruiting penalties, a fine and probation? Yeah, that's important, especially with the world we live in these days. Not to mention the show-cause handed out to those involved. It's about dumb as the NCAA could be here. Urgo even says they treated him like a criminal:

[Source] - “They were treating me like I was some criminal, literally like I had broken some laws,” Urgo said. “They were just trying to do whatever they could to pin a Level 1 violation on us and none of it made any sense. We were just all confused, including all the lawyers in the situation, confused as to why they were just being so aggressive and trying to do whatever they could to bury us.”

Just another day where the morons at the NCAA have no idea what they are doing. I don't even know how you get violations in 2025. I don't care what this occurred, it could be from 2003 and you still can't give out violations in 2025. We live in a world where anything goes in college sports. We live in a world where teams proudly talk about how much NIL money they have and openly campaign for it. But we are drawing the line at bowling alleys and jet skis? Sure. Jet skis fucking rule, don't think the NCAA took that into account. Shouldn't get a penalty for doing something cool. I understand it for Times Square, but let the bowling and jet skis go.
