Shaboozey Has Another Smash Hit On His Hands, His New Record With Myles Smith, “Blink Twice”, Has Song Of The Year Vibes
I don't think it's out of line to call Shaboozey the surprise artist, or breakout artist, of 2024. He had the biggest song of the year in "Bar Song" (Tipsy), which came out of absolute nowhere, and dominated both the country, and mainstream charts for the entire year.
But if you thought, “This guy’s a one-hit wonder,” then do yourself a favor and check out his latest track, “Blink Twice.”
The song is proof that Shaboozey is here to stay, blending his unique sound into a folk-infused masterpiece that has country fans and folk-music fans alike raising an eyebrow in approval.
I heard this song teased a few weeks ago on social media and eagerly awaited it officially dropping. When it finally did last week, it was a pleasant surprise to hear the entire thing lived up to the teaser.
The track is a collaboration between Shaboozey and British folk singer-songwriter Myles Smith, (you know him from his hits like “Nice to Meet You” and “Stargazing,”) and the result is nothing short of gold.
Holler magazine, clearly impressed with the blend of Shaboozey’s country-tinged flair and Smith’s folk sensibilities, put it best: “Shaboozey and Myles Smith’s genre-blending styles fuse together seamlessly on ‘Blink Twice’, with the duo exploring rousing, folk-leaning textures across the wistful new track.”
And it’s not just a catchy song, it’s emotionally charged.
You can practically feel the dust settling on the weary, road-worn souls that Shaboozey so often sings about.
It’s a perfect blend of reflective nostalgia and the kind of optimism that only youth can truly understand. Maybe I'm just a sentimental pussy, but I love this song.
