Darth Jar Jar Binks Added To Fortnite Which OFFICIALLY Makes That Crazy Theory Canon To Star Wars
Hello there, Fortnite just announced their next season will be entirely Star Wars themed with some pretty wild additions. You'll get to fly X-Wings, use Force Lightning, play as Palpatine.. It looks like enough to lure some casual players back to the battle bus for a few drops.
But most importantly they confirmed that 1 of the longest running fan theories is true. Darth Jar Jar Binks LIVES.
To people that have had sex this might not matter but to us Prequel-era Star Wars fans? This is BIG.
The basic gist is this. George Lucas originally planned to reveal Jar Jar as THE evil Sith mastermind in 'Episode II Attack Of The Clones'. He had already laid out the groundwork in 'Episode I The Phantom Menace' to make Jar Jar seem like a bumbling fool but he was actually doing some sinister shit in the background if you really looked closer. And also when you really think about his physical features and those eyes, those awful yellow eyes, you can totally picture him as an imposing monster.
Essentially an evil foil to how we meet Yoda in "Episode V Empire Strikes Back', easy to forget he was annoying AND dumb as fuck when we first meet him in that swamp. This video really lays out the whole theory perfectly,
Unfortunately for George, everyone HATED Jar Jar with a seething rage and he became the punchline for every joke about Phantom Menace. So much so that the actor who played him, Ahmed Best, considered suicide. Glad he ended up okie day.
The backlash prompted George to completely scrap the reveal and instead he hastily shoved Count Dooku into Ep II to fill the story gaps, leaving Jar Jar to tiny background cameos. I will give full credit to Dooks for nailing this scene though,

But until now that was all just urban legend and whispers amongst YouTube virgins. In the past few years Star Wars has leaned into the joke a bit with Lego sets & other small shout outs, just nothing on this official canon of a level
Because lest we forget, the world of Fortnite is CANON to Star Wars. Remember that random ass opening to the most recent Star Wars movie? Somehow… Palpatine… returned? Out of NOWHERE?
Well actually, his return was officially teased weeks movie the movie opened, just in a battle royale live event.
Pretty insane to put crucial plot development for the biggest finale to the biggest franchise in an isolated Fortnite match… But it does prove anything that gets put in there exists in the real Star Wars universe too.
And at this point, that is OKAY. Use that power to push demented shit like Darth Jar Jar Binks. That rules.
I don't have any fight left in me to hate on the movies and the recent TV shows have been mostly solid. Dave Filoni & Jon Favreau have proven they know their stuff and more importantly they care about doing right by the fandom. If you swore off Star Wars after the last movie, check out S2 finale of 'The Mandalorian' and you may just come around.
Either way, we can be thankful our Dark Lord HAS risen today!
