Comic Book Movies Are So Back This Summer - 'Superman' And 'The Fantastic Four' Both Look Amazing
I'm currently in Las Vegas with 2K for WrestleMania 41, so apologies on the delay blogging these recent trailers - but OOOOOOOOOH BABY I think we might be back! I know the reputation of comic book movies has taken a hit in recent years, but with 'Thunderbolts' on the horizon (which is getting amazing buzz from test screenings) followed by James Gunn's 'Superman' and the introduction of the MCU's 'Fantastic Four' this Summer - AND THEN a Spider-Man sequel sandwiched by a couple Avengers movies, it feels like we're entering a real good place again!
That being said, I still don't believe things have been as bad as they're made out to be. And I know you might roll your eyes at that and say "Robbie, you just like everything!" - but I mean, post-Endgame Marvel has given us 'Spider-Man: Far From Home', 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', 'Shang-Chi', 'Multiverse of Madness', 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3', 'Deadpool & Wolverine', 'Loki', 'Wandavision', 'Hawkeye' - even 'Daredevil: Born Again'! Sure, there's been some duds in there as well, but there's a ton of almost universally praised projects right there! On the DC side, we're admittedly still in more of a wait-and-see position - but I feel great after 'The Suicide Squad', 'The Batman', 'The Penguin', 'Peacemaker', and what we've seen/heard about shit like 'Superman' and 'Lanterns' and 'Supergirl' has me stoked. Plus, James Gunn has yet to let me down with anything comic book related.
I'll have muuuch more on the latest 'Fantastic Four' trailer and 'Superman' behind-the-scenes look this week on My Mom's Basement with Clem - so look out for that! For now, if you'd like our takes on the 'Daredevil: Born Again' finale and 'The Last Of Us' premiere, check out this week's episode....
