JD Vance Nearly Broke the College Football Playoff Trophy in Half During Ohio State's White House Visit

It's pretty hard to get any negative press from a team visiting the White House if you're the current administration, particularly if you're the vice president and the team visiting is your alma mater. You just have to smile for a few pictures, talk about how great the team was and not drop the trophy. JD Vance didn't get the memo on that last one.

To be fair to JD, it looks to the untrained eye like the trophy and stand should be a package deal, but in reality, the trophy comes off on its own. This incident does make me question how much college football he's ever watched to not know that, but it's an easy mistake to make when the trophy is sitting there on its base. But you just can't nearly drop the College Football Playoff trophy in front of your school's football team, let alone America. Credit to TreVeyon Henderson for saving this from being a total disaster.

If we still had the crystal football — the best trophy in sports that was tossed aside for no good reason — this wouldn't have been an issue.
