Some Big J Journalists Are Throwing A Fit Because A Florida Student Reporter Had The Audacity To Get Excited During The National Championship

We're back with Talia here, who keeps finding herself in viral moments over Florida's run. You may remember this one:

Now she's back because of a pretty standard video if we're being honest. Her getting excited in the final seconds during Florida's national title win. She's not screaming, she's not clapping or going nuts, a little excitement. Well, shockingly, a bunch of old journalists have decided there is NO room for that. It's disgusting they say!

You get the point by here now and if I link any other tweets I'm pretty sure our entire blog will implode. Now, I typically bite my tongue on this stuff, because what's the point? But it's the national title game of the sport I love the most and see it popping up everywhere. I also used to be a journalist. That's what I wanted to be my entire life, did the whole student paper thing, was an editor, all that before the newspaper industry died in 2009, which just so happened to be the year I graduated from Kentucky. I say all that just to set the background here and say the one thing I never understood is the no cheering in the press box. I know I'm now merely a blogger, but I still don't understand the pretend you don't give a shit about sports.

It's the single dumbest thing said over and over again from old Big J journalists. No one is saying go act like an asshole and lose your mind from media row. But if you do this? I mean what normal person covering the national title game didn't have this reaction as Houston fumbled the ball away? A little bit of excitement? The horror! Basically ruined journalism for any person who ever dreamed of one day writing about the Final Four.

All I ever think about in these scenarios is Scott Van Pelt's line 'we all come from somewhere, I happen to come from here' when he talks about Maryland.

Look at the shit said here. Unacceptable. Sets people back in the media world! Basic fundamentals. Give me a fucking break. All that matters is if you're able to put out factually correct stories and get people entertained. That's what media is. You're not sitting here solving every world crisis. It's sports. Who gives a shit? It's not changing the final score, which is the only thing that matters. It's not like some smiling and excitement changes a single thing in the sports world. Again, that's all this is. That's what everyone is up in arms about? Things change, this is about as standard of a video that 90% of 'media' have during a game.
