You Have To Shoot The Ball - Houston Ran One Of The Single Worst Possessions With The Game On The Line To Give Florida The National Title

It just ended like ... that? I'm stunned. 19 seconds to go and you don't get a shot off. You can't even get to the rim or anything? I love this Houston team, but what the fuck was that? I know, I know. They are just kids. But with 19 seconds to go you have to get a shot off. You have to do something, anything here. We all know what Houston just did to Duke. Who cares if you get a quick look and miss, you're never dead if you're Houston. You're only dead if you do this. I'm still in shock.

Now, back to Florida. They did this:

They weren't good, especially early. Then Will Richard carried them. He really was the star of the game because Walter Clayton was scoreless until 15 minutes to go. But, it's still Walter Clayton so he did this:

And credit to Florida. They hung around enough to keep it there. They never let Houston push the lead to 20, they answered when they had to and it led to a free throw contest before Houston collapsed. They gave up the lead for the first time with 46 seconds to go since it was 8-6, then Sharp lost the ball off his knee. It was a collapse. Houston didn't score the last 2 minutes of the game.

But I still can't get over that last possession. You have to get a shot up, you're the best rebounding team in the country. You have to do something there besides that. Florida was the hottest team in the country, they earned the title. But you can't go out like that if you're Houston.
