A Rivalry Is Born: Chattanooga Red Wolves Win A US Open Cup Game In PK's, Starts A Kerfuffle Trying To Plant Its Flag At Midfield
We got a little Chattanooga vs Chattanooga match last night in the US Open Cup. It's one that apparently is filled with hate. There's all this MLS Next Pro vs USL sort of stuff. But the real story is the flag planting. I wasn't sure what to use besides kerfuffle here. It's not a fight or brawl. It's for sure not a brouhaha. It's a light kerfuffle. We've reached the point where it's now happening in soccer. Can't believe that one man was able to pass protect like Mike Katic at the bar.
Fair play all around. I know the Ohio State dorks will cry about it, but much like back then. Just win and you don't have to worry about a flag being planted in your face. For sure don't lose in PK's in this case.
This is what the US Open Cup does to people. You win, you gotta plant a flag. I can't get over how dumb people get with this, but it's pretty simple in my book. You win, do whatever the hell you want. This is especially true when it's a rivalry game. You can't just expect to go back to the locker room, especially after this sort of ending. So shout out the guy who was willing to protect his midfield. You don't plant a flag with him around. Kinda concerning that no one else was willing to come out and help him. You gotta come back up your guy.
Football guys through and through here. This is why you show up to the US Open Cup. You do it to beat your rival and try to jam your flag at midfield.
