The Yankees Torpedo Bat Is Now About To Destroy Hockey Because It Has Inspired Connor McDavid
The Yankees and the torpedo bat designers owe the entire National Hockey League an apology. Connor McDavid doesn't need any help. He's already on pace to be a top 5 player whoever lived and that is before he designs a super stick.
This little tweet did change my entire perspective on the torpedo bats though. Think of the changes that have happened in hockey to the stick and all of the other equipment. Things get better seemingly every year. The first sticks were basically just tree branches. The first big innovation was just the Blackhawks getting the blade wedged in the board door so they created an accidental curve. Wood, wood with a curve, aluminum shaft, fiber glass, and whatever they're made out of now. I feel like the new thing now is where the torque of the stick is. Used to be in the middle, now it's down the stick towards the blade for kick on a snap shot. I am old enough to remember when you were a pussy who needed to hit the weight room if you didn't have a stiff stick with a high number flex. Now…everyone wants that whippy Connor McDavid stick. How many kids basically opted into a worse shot because they didn't want to be a pussy? Soooo dumb. I was dumb. I will be adapting for men's league. Whatever McDavid and his team invents I will be buying. I am sure it'll cost like $500 based on prices these days, but I am in. I am going to go from 7 goals last summer to double digits with the McJesus.
If hockey can change and get better every single year, then why can't baseball? I'd rather have a super stick than lift weights or practice. Let Volpe hit bombs with the new shit. Who am I to judge
