Buzz Williams is the New Head Coach At Maryland

They needed to move quick and they did. Thank god. The portal has been open and the Terps have like, 1 player left on the roster after Willard lit a match on his way out.

My opinion on Buzz Williams is pretty much everyone's- the guy knows how to win games. Say what you want about him, his reputation, whatever- he brings immediate respectability to the program and will be able to get players to College Park. And shit, maybe he's tired of jumping school to school and wants to settle down in College Park. That'd be nice.

And honestly, it's sorta overblown how many schools he's coached at. It's not *that* many.

Just a super successful coach, no doubt about it.

Now, the question is "should we have taken a flier on a young assistant who will either be a home run or strike out and no inbetween?". That was my first option, to be honest. Get some super young hotshot assistant (Luke Murray from UConn, perhaps) and give him the keys and say "go get em". Get someone super hungry and hope you got the next Brad Stevens. Maryland went the safe route though, which is also fine and I get it. But if there was ever a time to gamble, this was probably it.

But hey, Buzz is only 52 years old. He can be around for a while. And we have no choice but to root for him and love him as much as we will root against and hate Willard. We owe it to Buzz for coming into an impossible situation. Go Terps.
