Last night after the Elite 8 concluded, the thunderstorm clouds cleared in South Beach and we had ourselves a Miami Open Final to witness between Novak Djokovic and 19 year old stud in the making Jakub Mensik.

What followed was some extraordinary tennis displayed by the kid who showed zero nerves while playing his idol in the biggest match of his life. Mensik's serve was dominant as he out-classed the GOAT for two sets. He had it all going with his speed, power, and backhand wreaking havoc on the Serbian. Novak could never figure him out,.

In the end he prevailed through two tiebreaks, something Novak usually dominates against all players, never mind younger guys.

What's absolutely bonkers is the fact that Mensik nearly withdrew from the tournament before his first match two weeks ago. It was only because of a referee being out to lunch that he gave another physio a shot at fixing his knee pain. Safe to say it became tolerable enough to give it a shot.

Six matches later he hoisted the first championship trophy of his pro career. On top of that he denied Novak his 100th title of his career.

I tell ya what. This Alejandro physio just became the most important person the tour. You just helped a guy stay in a tournament which resulted in him winning it all? Yeah you'll have anyone feeling pain lining up at your door for you to work on them. Good on Mensik for shouting him out like that. Dude is gonna go to his boss today and name his price.
