We Need The Final Four To Deliver Three Great Games Because The Drama Of The NCAA Tournament Has Been A Massive Let Down So Far
This is something that we said on Mark Titus Show last night and I assume anyone who watches college basketball has said over the last two weeks. Forget the fact we have four No. 1 seeds in the Final Four, no one should have a problem with that. It's the fact we haven't had that moment yet. Walter Clayton has tried to deliver us a couple big shots, you had the Derik Queen buzzer beater, Texas Tech's games vs Arkansas/Florida. But other than that? A lot of just blow outs or games where the better team is winning by 12 basically all game and it feels out of reach.
Now we have the Final Four set, which is arguably the dream Final Four:
The Final Four can change the entire view of the Tournament. If we get the 3 good games between these teams that everyone has been waiting for the pay out is 100% worth it. Look, I'm someone who obviously loves this sport and will watch every second of a game in November for no reason at all. This is how the Tournament goes. Some years is mayhem and we have the upsets, buzzer beaters, close games, some we just have dominant teams and the payoff is an awesome last weekend. But like Titus says quickly on that clip, we're running out of time. We're lacking the drama which is what people want to see.
At the same time, this is why the Final Four should be awesome. Good luck ranking these teams 1-4, good luck ranking the matchups you want to see. I personally think Houston is the best team in the country, which 80% of people will yell about. I do think we have the ideal Final Four matchups with an SEC rematch there and Houston/Duke on the other side. Just a reminder though, the last time we had all four No. 1s in 2008 the Final Four games were a blowout before an all-time title game. That's all we're looking for. Best on best, rematches, the Final Four is ideal in that standpoint. But really we just need the drama. We need a Walter Clayton shot again or Milos Uzan game-winner.
