John Calipari Explaining How He Screwed Up And Helped Choke Away The Arkansas Season Is Why Kentucky Fans Were Ready To Get Rid Of Him

In case you missed how the game ended somehow:

Now, let me be very clear. I'm fine with the no timeout the moment the basket goes in. In fact, I support no timeouts in that situation. Get the ball up in a scramble and then if there's nothing, call timeout and set something up. However, this is the scenario we've seen over and over again the last 6 years. Blown lead, take the air out of the ball, make a dumb decision late in the game. It was the full John Calipari experience, but first shout out the guy who put this up at halftime:

Back to the last play and why John Calipari is sitting here explaining himself. You could easily see DJ Wagner had no idea what the hell he was going to do with 4 seconds to go. He was just kinda waiting. Call timeout! Get the ball, maybe, I don't know, to Johnell Davis who had 30. That seems like a good idea with your season on the line.

This right here and that game is why Kentucky fans were more than ready to move on from John Calipari. We've seen that story. We've seen those plays and those decisions. I don't even care that he didn't foul up 3 at the end of regulation (there was too much time). It's how he handles end of game scenarios. It's a weak point. It was a weak point when he was at Memphis (see: 2008 NCAA title game), Kentucky and still today.

This is it though. That was John Calipari in a nutshell. Have this run, look the part, get a little cocky and then have it all crash down because you start stalling the offense with 4 minutes to go. You pray that your defense can bail you out before giving up open looks and then this. Again, this is why we were ready to move on and we made the right decision.
