Common Sense Prevails: The Yankees Are Ending Their Stupid Tradition Of Playing 'New York, New York' After Home Losses

For being as prestigious and successful of an organization as they are, the New York Yankees certainly make a lot of brain dead dumb decisions. These awful decisions range from refusing to contact Bryce Harper during free agency, going into this upcoming season without a 3rd baseman, to playing Frank Sinatra's 'New York, New York' after losses at home. Keep in mind that's the same song they play after wins, thus defeating the effectiveness and joy of the song. After losses leaving the stadium I want to die. I don't want to hold my head up high, proud to live in New York. Play a depressing song that makes me want to step in front of the 6 train.
Well, on the heels of allowing their players to have well-groomed beards, another big change is on the way for the upcoming season.
Sure it may seem insignificant to you, but it's something that absolutely had to be altered. The final straw appears to have been the Dodgers dog pile on the field after a World Series victory on the field at Yankee Stadium as 'New York, New York' belted throughout the speakers. It just added to the embarrassment the fans felt after watching the Yankees piss away their season. I'm not sure if it was the blog I wrote when the moment happened or the overwhelming distaste by fans for the tradition over the years, but someone upstairs got wind of this and made the change. I'm thankful at least one person's head up there is working properly.
Little fun fact about what song they used to play. There was a period of time where Liza Minnelli's version of 'New York, New York' was the sound of losses, but she eventually cried that she was being disrespected so they stopped doing that.
This is a step in the right direction of being great again. Other things on the checklist? Getting a real third baseman on the team and teaching Jasson Dominguez how to battle the sun.
Baby steps, people. Baby steps.
