Dude Just Went Crazy While Deep In A Poker Tournament, Causing Chaos And Knocking Over 3 Tables Sending Chips Flying Everywhere
Man, you know whoever did this is in some deeeeep shit. We've all lost a flip for a lot of money before. Get your Queens in vs AK, flop comes A high, and you're toast. Happens to everyone. But rarely do you go on a rampage after losing the flip. We've all wanted to, sure. I've seen people rip cards. A chair gets slammed. Negreanu one time smashed his GoPro against the wall. Emotions get the best of all of us. But I've never seen a man go full on bull in a china shop. That's a new one for sure. He probably thought this was his "one time". We all know that feeling. You're semi-deep in a tournament and you start having illusions of buying a boat, getting your life in order, the whole 9 yards. Then a bad beat hits ya, you're out, and the depressing weight of life hits you like a ton of bricks. Been there a zillion times.
In this case, there were 65 left in this tournament from 1,710 who started, and a cool $368,380 for first. So whoever did this definitely already spent that $300k. Or the $1700 buy-in was the last of his money. Or he owes some bad people a lot of money and this was his shot to pay it back. Could be 100 reasons he went psycho. He's definitely banned for life now though, whoops. Hard to win money when you can't play, but hey, emotions gonna emotion at the wrong possible time.
Now the real person in the jackpot is the Tournament Director. He has to figure out what the hell to do. You can go to the cameras and do your best estimates of chip stacks, but nobody is going to be happy. Everyone is going to argue that they had more chips. The TD is going to have so say something like "either take the amount we assign you or you are DQ'd from the tournament". Like, there is no possible way to 100% correctly rectify this situation, so hopefully the players are understanding. I'm sure most will be understanding but a few loud assholes will try and make it even worse.
PS: I will have poker content coming soon. Filming in Vegas next week. And then hopefully Dave plays me heads up like he's been promising for 10 years. And then WSOP. Lots of poker content just around the corner.
