The New Era: Mizzou Coach Dennis Gates Got On The Mic With 1 Second Left To Tell Fans Not To Rush The Court Because, 'We Need That Money To Go To NIL'

You know you're rolling as a coach when you can tell thousands of drunks college kids to stay in their seats and they listen. Look, it makes sense. The SEC loves to fine schools hundreds of thousands of dollars if you rush the field or court, most places don't care. However, Dennis Gates is smart here. He knows what $250,000 can do

You can go get yourself a starter from the transfer portal here! You just beat Alabama for 40 minutes, wire to wire ass kicking. You made Alabama look like a JV team trying to play defense. It was one of the more impressive games I've seen from a team this year and the arena was rocking. Credit to Mizzou, I didn't know they had that sort of environment in them outside of like the Kansas game. Had Nate Oats snapping whiteboards and getting technicals

I get why Mizzou fans want to rush the court, they should for every game. This team didn't win a game in conference play a year ago. People wondered if Gates was the right coach, all this stuff. Now you're top-15 in the country, fighting for a top-4 spot in the SEC and play a style that is fun to watch. I'd be on the court after every big win after watching a team go 0-18 in conference play. There's nothing worse than watching your team suck for an entire year. You just know there's no hope, have to get to the next year and hope you hit in the portal.

But saying not to rush the court so you can use NIL money is where we're at in 2025. Smart to say it, but absurd people have to.
