'Don't Come Back When We're Winning' - Micah Shrewsberry Lost His Mind About Notre Dame Fans Not Showing Up To Games And People Wanting Him Fired
Hell yeah, I love a good coach freakout during a press conference. Gotta hand it to Micah here. He smacked the shit out of that microphone. That's how you close out a good freakout. The real thing here though? Micah isn't close to getting fired. Yeah, Notre Dame should be fired but he's been there for two years.
It's also Notre Dame. People aren't getting fired up for basketball there. It's part of the job. You have to be able to sell the crowd to show up. They did when Brey had it rolling, but let's not act like Notre Dame fans were filling the place as the team was awful at the end of his run. Hell, they barely did while Notre Dame was good during his run. They just care about football. It's a way to pass the time until football season rolls around again.
We also have too many coaches trying to do the Dan Hurley 'better get us now' speech. I know it's not on purpose, but we've seen that clip during every UConn game for 2+ years now, that coaches gotta switch it up. Also doesn't sound right to say don't come back when we're winning when you're also complaining about lack of fans. Should be begging them to come back when you start winning. Every fanbase has fairweather fans, Notre Dame knows that better than anyone. Win and they'll show up. You have a 7-year contract, you're not getting fired in year 2. Just win, that solves everything.
