College Basketball's Newest Problem - Refs Keep Pathetically Kicking Guys Out Of Games Because They Don't Understand What A Nut Shot Is
What are we doing here? This isn't Brad Davison, so we can rule out intent here. This is simply a player trying to get through a screen who happened to hit someone else in the balls. A foul? Absolutely. But to get EJECTED for this? I'm not being hyperbolic when I say the ref should be fired on the spot, right in the middle of the court for this. It's a college basketball problem. JT Toppin had something similar happen against Houston:
This is the worst part. They go to the monitor and look at this. Anyone with a brain, anyone who played rec league as a 6-year old knows this is what's happening on a play. It's a foul, it's not that hard. Yet it's college basketball and refs are the biggest problem in this sport, so we have guys getting ejected in major games for something like this. This is going to happen in the NCAA Tournament. It's a guarantee at this point. A team will be without a key player with the season on the line.
Oh and the fact people are saying 'well it's the rulebook problem' yeah of course. But you know what refs have the right to do? Not eject someone. If the ref here just said 'foul' Matt Painter wouldn't have lost his mind. Just use your fucking brain, that's all we ask. Seems simple at this point.
