"TWO RINGS! TWO RINGS!" - We Got Our Latest Dose Of Dan Hurley Dunking On Another Group Of Fans

Remarkable. Just remarkable. Listen this is why The Big East will always be considered a power conference despite being less sexy and have as many big names at The Big 10, SEC, etc. They said the Big East was going to die when everyone left 10 or so years ago and it disbanded from a “super conference” and boy were they wrong. This conference was built on smaller (mostly Catholic) schools that live breathe and die with basketball. It’s built on gritty basketball, crazy fanbases, rivalries, and coaches who are larger than life personalities. That’s 100% what you have here with Danny Hurley. 

Hurley is an all timer with his technical fouls. 

But this year he took it to a new level when he threatened a ref who turned his back on him. 

Now we got Hurley taunting Creighton fans pointing to his fingers and saying “2 rings.” Just surreal. 

Listen, I know you are probably reading this begging me to take the sportsmanship angle and complain about him showing people up etc. But I just can’t here. This is who Hurley is. He’s a living breathing basketball obsessed lunatic and I say that in the most endearing way possible. He was put on this planet to win basketball games and he’s done it. His style is tough, gritty, and could make anyone who’s not as tough as he is quit but it’s clearly working. Working so much he’s one of only 3 guys to win back to back titles since 1991. Why would he apologize? Why would he not taunt fans? He famously called his shot years ago …

And he has delivered big time. Don’t apologize Danny. Embrace it. This is what we need in college basketball. Coaches being the biggest personalities in the game and having their teams define their personality. Danny Hurley is becoming the big boy on the block that talks the talks and walks the walk. Never change Danny. Never change.
